Montgomery County VINE Coverage
Illinois VINELink is a free and confidential search and notification service. The Illinois Attorney General says the statewide VINE system interfaces with county jail booking systems, the Illinois Department of Corrections, human-services records, and circuit-clerk systems. That broad description does not prove that every Montgomery County Jail booking is present at every moment. Participation for a specific local booking should be checked in the live search or confirmed with the jail.
Graham Correctional Center is an IDOC prison, even though it sits in Montgomery County. A Graham custody or release event belongs to the statewide corrections path. Montgomery County Jail is a sheriff facility, and a local discharge belongs to the sheriff record. VINE can relay an event supplied by either system, but it does not merge their official records or replace them. A transfer alert means custody moved. It does not mean the person entered the community.
The Illinois Attorney General's VINE information also lists telephone support. Search and alert functions are available around the clock, while the originating jail, corrections office, or court remains the authority for the event itself.
Search a Montgomery County Inmate
Begin with the Illinois page and search for one person, not for a general release list. A correct match depends on careful identity checks because names can repeat and an agency record may use a booked spelling. Guest users may need to complete a CAPTCHA before results appear.
- Open Illinois VINELink and choose “Search for Someone.” Select the offender or defendant search, not the protective-order search.
- Enter a name, ID number, or case number. Try surname variations or a known identifier if the first search fails.
- Complete the guest CAPTCHA, then compare the name and all available identifiers before opening a result.
- Read the event label exactly. Separate release from transfer, escape, court activity, or another custody change.
- Confirm the event with Montgomery County Jail, IDOC, or the relevant court record.
A missing result is inconclusive. The facility may not supply that record, data may lag, the spelling may differ, the record may be confidential, or an older event may no longer be retained. For a broader custody-specific path, the Montgomery County released inmate search explains how sheriff, court, and IDOC records fit together.
Montgomery County VINE Results
A returned record can identify the person, show a custody or case status, and report a recent event supplied by the participating agency. Available fields vary. Do not fill a missing field with an assumption from a court docket or another locator.
| Field | What it can show |
|---|---|
| Name or identifier | Helps distinguish people with similar names and connect the result to a booking or case. |
| Custody status | Reports the status supplied by the participating agency, subject to update lag. |
| Facility or agency | Identifies the custodian or source so the event can be confirmed directly. |
| Event label | May identify release, transfer, escape, or another custody change. |
| Photo | May appear if the source supplies one; it is optional and not a permanent archive. |
The most important field is the event wording. “Transferred” means the person left one location while custody continued. A “release” event is useful notice, yet the sheriff's discharge timestamp or IDOC historical release field is stronger permanent evidence. Court status can also continue after a pretrial release.
The official Illinois search screen shows the state-specific entry point.
This screen starts the identity search; it does not prove Montgomery County custody or release until a matching agency-supplied record is opened.
Register Montgomery County Release Alerts
Registration begins from the matching record. Offered delivery methods may include phone, email, text, or an in-app message. Using more than one available method reduces the chance that a missed call or changed email address blocks notice.
- Open the correct person record and select its registration or notification action.
- Choose the offered delivery channels and enter current contact details.
- Create a four-digit PIN when phone registration asks for one. Account verification codes and alert PINs serve different purposes.
- Complete submission and save the confirmation without sharing the PIN.
- For a phone alert, listen to the event and enter the PIN followed by the pound sign to acknowledge it.
- Confirm the reported event with the supplying jail, IDOC office, or court.
Email-only registration does not necessarily require a phone-alert PIN. Unanswered calls may repeat. The selected record's notification registration screen displays the available choices.
The controls shown depend on the record and agency feed, so not every Montgomery County result will offer the same alert types.
Confirm Montgomery County VINE Events
VINE is designed for notice, not permanent historical research. Agency data can lag, change, or age out. Montgomery County Jail should confirm whether a local event was discharge or transfer. For a Graham or other state-prison record, the IDOC offender search can show Offender Status, Last Paroled Date, Projected Parole Date, and Projected Discharge Date. A projected date alone does not show that release occurred.
VINE does not replace the federal Bureau of Prisons locator or the ICE detainee locator. BOP covers sentenced federal custody. ICE has its own limited current and recent-release search. An ordinary Montgomery County jail case should start with the sheriff, while a Graham case should start with IDOC. Matching the custodian prevents the most common false conclusion.
Telephone support for Illinois VINE is available at 866-566-8439. The service is multilingual. Questions about the correctness of a Montgomery County booking event must still go to the office that entered it.
Illinois Release Notification Layers
Illinois has a second notification route for specified IDOC postconviction events. Prisoner Review Board Victim Services registration can cover eligible notice of parole or mandatory supervised release, work release, target aftercare hearings, and an order of discharge. It may also supply a recent felony-offender photo at release to an eligible registrant who requests it.
That PRB layer is different from VINE. VINE relays custody or court changes reported through participating data feeds. PRB notice concerns specified state-prison and Board events. Neither PRB nor IDOC is the authority for a routine Montgomery County Jail bond, pretrial, or time-served discharge. Those local releases remain sheriff and court matters.
IDOC Victim Services can help with covered corrections matters, while PRB Victim Services can be reached at 800-801-9110. Illinois VINE support remains 866-566-8439. Choosing the layer that matches the custody system gives a more useful alert and a clearer confirmation path.
A county-jail release to the community is best confirmed through the Montgomery County Sheriff's maintained entry and the related Fourth Judicial Circuit order. If the sheriff reports a transfer, follow the named destination. A transfer to IDOC may not become searchable at once because intake and data processing take time. VINE can report the change, but its notice should keep the agency's exact event term.
For a person physically released from Graham on parole or mandatory supervised release, IDOC is primary. Offender Status and Last Paroled Date can support the prison exit, while a future Projected Discharge Date shows that legal custody continues. PRB records may add a hearing, condition, revocation, or final-discharge event. Montgomery County Jail has no authority over that state-prison record merely because Graham is located near Hillsboro.
Fully discharged IDOC records pose another limit. The public search may stop returning a person after sentence and parole are complete. An older VINE notice can also age out. A no-result therefore cannot be rewritten as proof that the person was never held or that release occurred on a guessed date. Request historical admission, release, and discharge fields from IDOC or PRB when the permanent record matters.
For Montgomery County Jail, a name, date of birth when known, booking or case number, and short date range help the sheriff locate the right custody entry. Ask whether VINE received the same event only after the official discharge or transfer term is clear. That order of work keeps an alert from overriding the source record.
Note: Registration provides notice of qualifying events, but it does not turn VINE or PRB into a permanent Montgomery County release archive.
Confirm a Montgomery VINE Result
After a VINE alert, compare it with the Montgomery County Sheriff record for a jail event, the Circuit Clerk docket for the controlling order, and the local Montgomery case search when the public case is available. VINE remains the notification layer, not the permanent record custodian.
