Graham Correctional Center Release Routes
Graham Correctional Center is a medium-security adult male state prison operated by the Illinois Department of Corrections. Community release may occur through parole or mandatory supervised release, often shortened to MSR. Physical release from prison can happen before the sentence is fully discharged. IDOC Parole Division then supervises the person, while the Illinois Prisoner Review Board handles conditions, hearings, revocation matters, and final discharge within its authority.
Graham is also the parent institution for Graham Reception and Classification Center. A person who leaves that unit may simply have been assigned to another IDOC institution. If the public profile still says “in custody” or lists another state location, custody continues. A transfer is not a parole event, MSR release, or sentence discharge.
| Event | What follows | Best source |
|---|---|---|
| IDOC transfer | State custody continues elsewhere | Current IDOC location |
| Parole or MSR release | Community supervision continues | IDOC status and parole date |
| Final discharge | Sentence and supervision end | IDOC or PRB record |
| Revocation return | Custody may resume after process | PRB and IDOC records |
Confirm a Graham Prison Release
The IDOC offender search is the first public route. It accepts a last name or partial name, a “Last, First” entry, IDOC number, or birthdate in the form's stated format. Match more than a name before relying on a result.
- Search the state form with the most precise identifier available.
- Open the matching profile and read Offender Status and Location together.
- Compare Last Paroled Date, Projected Parole Date, and Projected Discharge Date.
- Check whether “Sentence Discharged?” confirms a completed sentence.
- Request IDOC or PRB records when a fully discharged person no longer appears.
The Montgomery County released inmate search separates Graham's statewide path from county-jail records.
Read Graham Release Date Fields
IDOC's public vocabulary distinguishes three separate milestones. Last Paroled Date records a past release to parole or supervised release. Projected Parole Date is a forecast for leaving prison custody. Projected Discharge Date forecasts the end of legal custody. “Sentence Discharged?” is a separate endpoint. Earned credit, lost credit, court orders, warrants, detainers, and recalculation can alter a projection.
- Parole
- Community supervision after prison release under applicable authority.
- Mandatory supervised release
- A required supervision term that follows eligible prison custody.
- Discharge
- The formal end of the sentence and related legal custody.
- Transfer
- Movement between custodians or institutions without community release.
A profile showing parole or MSR can confirm physical release while showing that legal custody remains. For an agent or supervision question, contact IDOC Parole Division. PRB calendars are not a substitute for the supervising office.
Graham Records and Contact
Graham's facility office can route institution-specific operational questions, but statewide IDOC and PRB offices hold the broader former-offender and discharge records. The prison should not be asked to act like the Montgomery County sheriff's jail-record unit.

Graham Correctional Center Profile
The official IDOC facility page describes Graham as a medium-security adult male institution opened in September 1980. It covers 117 acres with 50 buildings. The page reported an operational capacity of 2,027 and total population of 1,578 as of June 30, 2024. These figures are dated snapshots, not permanent counts.
The official Graham facility page supplies the institution's current public profile.

Its institution facts provide context, while the offender search remains the person-specific status source.
Graham Reception Transfers
The Reception and Classification Center is the local fact that most affects release interpretation. People pass through classification before assignment across the state system. A name can disappear from Graham-specific information because the person moved to another IDOC location, not because the sentence ended.
Read the current location alongside offender status. If another institution appears and the status remains in custody, follow the new institution. If parole or MSR appears with a historical release date, physical prison custody may have ended while supervision continues. If the public profile disappears after final discharge, seek a historical IDOC or PRB record.
Graham VINE and PRB Notices
Illinois VINE may provide agency-supplied custody and release notifications for an IDOC record. Registration can help track a release or transfer, but the feed may lag and is not a lasting archive. The statewide help line is 1-866-566-8439. A no-result does not prove that no Graham custody event occurred.
PRB Victim Services offers a complementary notification layer for eligible persons. Its specified events can include parole, MSR, work release, furlough, target aftercare dates or hearings, and orders of discharge. It can also provide a recent felony-offender photograph upon release when requested by an eligible registrant. This PRB channel concerns covered postconviction events and does not operate as a general public release list.
Graham Parole and Final Discharge
IDOC Parole Division supervises parole and MSR in the community. The Prisoner Review Board has a different role in conditions, hearing action, revocation, and final discharge. Collapsing the two offices can send a status question to the wrong custodian. A projected discharge date is useful planning data, while a final-discharge order is much stronger proof that supervision ended.
An absconder allegation, warrant, violation, or revocation issue does not erase the earlier release event. It may indicate a person left prison and later faced a supervision issue. Current custody still requires a separate IDOC check. No general Montgomery County absconder list was verified.
Graham Reentry Program Context
Graham's official page lists Orientation and Reentry Prep along with education, treatment, library, and chaplaincy offerings. Reentry programming is a real feature of the institution, but participation does not confirm a scheduled release, grant of parole, or final discharge. Programs also should not be promised to every incarcerated person.
Release confirmation must remain tied to the public profile, official release procedure, Parole Division, PRB action, VINE alert, or formal record response. Program information provides context about preparation inside the prison, not evidence that the person has passed through the gate.
Graham and County Jail Differences
Graham and Montgomery County Jail sit in the same county but use wholly different records systems. Graham holds sentenced state prisoners and reception-classification cases under IDOC. The county jail holds local pretrial and county-sentence cases under the sheriff. A sheriff discharge entry cannot prove an IDOC discharge, and an IDOC profile may never exist for a person released locally on bond.
For a local jail booking, use sheriff and Circuit Clerk records. For Graham, use IDOC, Parole Division, PRB, and VINE. Naming the institution before searching avoids mistaking a routine state transfer for a community release.
Graham and County Record Boundaries
Graham records come from IDOC, even though the prison is near Hillsboro. The Montgomery County Sheriff, Circuit Clerk, and Montgomery case search serve local jail or county-court matters. They do not maintain Graham statewide parole, transfer, or final-discharge records.
