Montgomery 24-Hour Release Access
No official Montgomery County online inmate roster, recent-releases tab, or rolling 24-hour view was verified on the sheriff's public page. It lists jail and records contacts but offers no name search, published update schedule, retention window, or release fields. Results from commercial lists or a different Montgomery County cannot fill that gap.
For a same-day question, call Montgomery County Jail at 217-532-9514. Ask whether the person was discharged or transferred, since both events remove someone from the local jail. Then request the maintained entry in writing. A short processing lag can also separate a court order, VINE notice, telephone answer, and the actual departure timestamp.
The official sheriff screenshot shows the truthful access point rather than a feed. Visit the Montgomery County Sheriff jail page before using its contact route.

That page confirms the local office and jail channel, while the absence of a release tab is itself a key limitation.
Check Montgomery Same-Day Releases
A narrow, person-specific check is more reliable than asking for a broad jail database. Use the full booked name, date of birth if known, case or booking number, and a short date range. Keep the exact event terms in the reply.
- Call the jail. Ask whether Montgomery County Jail recorded discharge or transfer and whether processing has ended.
- Send a written request. Email Sheriff_FOIA@montgomerycountyil.gov for the chronologically maintained received, discharged, or transferred timestamp and booking-release entry.
- Read the court case. Use the Circuit Clerk to find the order that explains the legal basis, while recognizing that the jail controls physical processing.
- Check VINE. Search Illinois VINE when Montgomery supplies the matching booking, but treat an alert as corroboration.
- Follow a transfer. Use IDOC only after a transfer to Graham or another state prison is documented.
For one named person's broader search path, use the Montgomery County released-inmate coverage on the home page. It separates county, state, federal, and immigration channels.
Montgomery Same-Day Record Fields
Because no public feed exists, these are request fields, not claims about a web list. Illinois FOIA section 2.15 identifies time and date received, discharged, or transferred as chronologically maintained arrest information. Ask for fields as the sheriff keeps them and allow lawful redaction.
| Requested field | What it can establish |
|---|---|
| Booked name and identifier | Matches the response to the correct person |
| Received date and time | Start of this agency's custody entry |
| Discharge or transfer date and time | When Montgomery custody ended or changed hands |
| Recorded release category | How the jail classified the event |
| Destination agency | Where custody continued, if releasable |
| Court or case reference | Links the event to its legal authority |
A booking photo may be requested when and if available, but it is a separate disclosure question. The research found no universal Montgomery release-record fee sheet, form, or retention schedule. Ask the custodian rather than importing another agency's policy.
The requested release category needs care. Pretrial release ends jail confinement while the court case may continue. Time served or sentence completion describes the end of a county custodial term, subject to another hold. Transfer means custody changed agencies. Hospital movement under guard, an immigration handoff, or movement to another jail should retain the agency's wording and should not be folded into a same-day community-release count.
Montgomery Release Fallback Chain
The sheriff record is primary for a community exit from Montgomery County Jail. The Montgomery case search may expose the court docket that explains the order. Illinois VINE may supply a release or custody-change notice if the booking feed participates and the record remains available. These channels complement each other, but the sheriff timestamp is the strongest local record of discharge versus transfer.
If the sheriff says “transferred to IDOC,” use the IDOC offender search after intake processing. Graham is a state prison, not a county jail. A Projected Parole Date is not proof of release; a Last Paroled Date and matching status are stronger. Federal BOP and ICE tools belong only to documented federal or immigration custody.
A broader date range is handled on the Montgomery County 72-Hour Releases page. It still uses records requests because no rolling feed was found.
Montgomery Release or Transfer
“No longer at Montgomery County Jail” is not a complete status. Discharge to the community, transfer to IDOC, movement to another county, and an ICE handoff can all end local jail custody. Ask for the agency's event label and destination when it may be disclosed. A court dismissal can coexist with custody on another case or hold.
A person still in county custody is confirmed with the jail. A person discharged locally is confirmed by the sheriff's timestamp and supporting court order. An IDOC prisoner or parolee is checked through IDOC. VINE may show a recent custody change, but it is not a permanent archive and its data may lag. No result proves neither release nor continued custody.
Timing conflicts are common in a same-day check. The court can enter an order before the jail finishes identity checks, property steps, or another documented hold review. VINE can receive an agency event later. Report each source with its own time instead of forcing all systems into one value. If a court case remains pending after pretrial release, that does not contradict the sheriff's discharge entry.
The reverse conflict also occurs. A dismissal on one count does not establish that every hold ended. Another case, warrant, sentence, county request, federal process, or immigration detainer may keep custody in place. Search all known case numbers and ask the jail which maintained authority controls the status. That avoids turning a legal development into an unsupported claim about the time someone walked out.
Note: Preserve “transferred” when that is the official label; changing it to “released” creates a false community-release claim.
Two Montgomery Release Absences
Montgomery has two different absence problems. At the county level, no public release feed was published at all. At the state level, IDOC explains that a fully discharged person may disappear after sentence and parole completion. Neither absence establishes a new release event.
The remedy depends on the custodian. Ask the sheriff for the section 2.15 discharge or transfer timestamp in a county case. Seek historical IDOC or PRB material for a completed state sentence. This distinction is especially important because Graham Correctional Center sits in Montgomery County but uses statewide IDOC records.
Montgomery Sheriff App Limits
The sheriff publishes an official mobile app. Its current store description documents tips, public-safety news, and agency interaction. It does not promise an inmate lookup, booking photos, or a 24-hour release feed. InmateSales, which the jail links for funds and calls, is also not a public release archive.
The official app image can help identify the correct county product, but users should verify its current functions rather than infer a release window.

The store listing supports agency communication, not a same-day list of released inmates.
